Fairy Tales in Art Deco

March 14, 2011

Today I thought I’d share an artful thing from the past – a sketch that was based on a gorgeous piece of work by a Hungarian sculptor named Alexandre Kelety.

A few years ago while procrastinating at my drawing table, my husband came home from the library and placed a coffee-table sized, Art Déco book in front of me. Knowing it’s my favorite art period, I wouldn’t be able to resist studying the artwork and become inspired. He was right and I was thankful.

If my fairy tale ending includes the ability to incite the same level of exquisite beauty from my own dusty soul, as Kelety did, it would be a dream come true.
