Print Press Love

October 20, 2011

This two minute short film was brought to my attention courtesy of Applied Arts magazine. The film by Brought To You By features the local print shop Trip Print Press. I could hang out in this guy’s downtown studio all year long for some old fashioned soulcraft if he’d let me.

When I studied illustration in Scotland, the printmaking studio was fully equipped with these huge, heavy, black, beautiful, antique iron printing presses. I love Europe! If it weren’t for the fact that they were bolted to the floor and heavy as locomotives, I would have dragged one of those puppies back across the Atlantic with me. The original prints that came off of them were a thousand times more beautiful because well, in the words of Marshall McLuhan “the medium is the message.”
