My Favorite Yip Yips

November 1, 2011

My eleven-year-old niece Mimi has taken to sewing amongst her many creative pursuits. She’s incredibly talented. She was part of the team of two who designed Opa’s Boo Boo doll. Inspired by Sesame Street, Mimi and her best friend made their own costumes this year. Armed with independence, a pattern found on the internet, a sewing machine, creative will, and a fabulous sense of humor –  I give you Mimi’s Yip Yips. Inside the mouths are built-in pillow cases on the ready to swallow as much Halloween candy as is humanly possible.

Mimi may have long since out grown Sesame Street but like the rest of us who grew up watching it, the show’s creative genius will never out grow it’s place in our hearts, nor will the lessons learned ever leave our heads.

First of all, what a brilliant costume idea, right down to the built-in bellies for candy. Second, thank you for posting the Yip Yips. That was a very happy 2 minutes and 53 seconds!
